Rene Marie Russo is an American film actress and a former supermodel. Alongside her stunning beauty, her continued success in the film industry can be attributed to her talents as a performer. In the 1970s the model began her career, and soon was one of the most prominent actors in the industry. After studying acting Russo embarked on a career as a model working in Los Angeles. Russo first made her television debut on ABCs Sable with the character Eden Kendell, in 1987. She was Tom Berengers' love interest two years later on Major League, her debut movie. At first, she was unsure of her ability as an actor but critics soon became impressed by her performance. Her role in Wolfgang Petersen's Outbreak was a favorite of critics, as she stood up to Dustin Hoffman or Morgan Freeman. However, according to her own admissions, she never was passionate about the acting. She took a long self-imposed break. Then, she made her return with Thor. In addition, she starred in Nightcrawler which was her husband's Oscar Award winning film. The Intern followed, as did Just Getting Started.

She began her professional career as an amateur athlete taking part in numerous regional promotions prior to joining Invicta Fighting Championships. In April, 2015 Rose took on Carla Esparza for the inaugural Women s Strawweight Championship at The Ultimate Fighter 20 Finale where she won by technical knockout just 3 minutes into Round One which resulted in not only winner of the title, but receiving the title of Fighter Of The Night along with creating history within MMA since this match was the for the first time in history that woman competed for a championship title with a major promoter across the globe . Namajunas kept winning wins, including two wins over Joanna Jedrzejczyk that earned her the title of Performance of the Night by UFC.
