She's covered sports for some of the most prominent media across the globe. She was a reporter for The Washington Post nearly a decade, covering Grand Slam Tennis and Grand Slam Football as well as basketball at multiple Olympics. In 2004, Nichols moved on to ESPN for a period of nine years during which she was awarded two Emmy Awards and appeared on several of the network's top popular shows, such as SportsCenter and NFL Countdown. She also served as a sideline journalist for the Monday Night Football broadcasts. Her next move was to CNN and Turner Sports. Unguarded was a program that she co-produced and hosted airs each one week at CNN International. The show drew more than one-billion viewers in all over the world. Nichols reported on NBA shows on TNT, including the regular season, playoffs and all-star broadcasts. Nichols also reported on golf, baseball as well as Final Four broadcasts for CBS and TBS. Over the course of 42 years of this award, this was the first time that women were one of the nominees.
